IMPORTANT NOTICE: The Board of directors has decided that luncheon meetings will be held every other month for the first half of 2012, then evaluated. Therefore, the next meeting date for 2012 is June 8. Our June 8 program speaker will be Howard Gleckman, author of “Caring for Our Parents” (St. Martin’s Press), a book first published in 2009. Should one consider continuing, or even adding life insurance and/or adding long-term care insurance? Howard Gleckman speaks and writes frequently on long-term care. He has written a chapter on long-term care for Landmark: The Inside Story of America’s New Health Care Law and What it Means for Us All (Public Affairs, 2010) and has written many related articles in publications such as The Washington Post, Health Affairs, to name a few. Howard also writes regularly for Forbes.com and Kaiser Health News and has spoken as well at universities, business schools and to numerous community groups. Mr. Gleckman is a Montgomery County resident, chairs the Medical Quality Committee of Suburban Hospital and is a board member of the Jewish Council for the Aging of Greater Washington. In addition, he is a Resident Fellow at The Urban Institute where he is affiliated with both the Tax Policy Center and the Program on Retirement Policy.. National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE) is a non-profit membership organization of current and former Federal employees, spouses and survivors. The chief of its several purposes is to protect and enhance the earned retirement benefits of its members in almost 2000 chapters in the United States. The Maryland Federation of Chapters includes 37 of those chapters as members. The Bethesda-Chevy Chase Chapter meets the second Friday in the months of February through June and September through December and publishes a newsletter 4 times a year.
