Here are the Press Releases.

PRESS  RELEASES:

All Maryland Federation’s local chapters  are encouraged to write press releases to their local news media “After-The-Event”, describing their NARFE Event, and should include the:

  • Who
  • What
  • When
  • Where
  • Why

A good press release should:

  • Keep sentences and paragraphs “short”
  • Give exact and complete dates of the event (For example: Thursday, March 5, 2015)
  • Give the town of residence for all chapter members mentioned in your release
  • Spell out numbers from one to nine and use numerals for 10 and above
  • Check all names for accuracy and spelling

REMEMBER:

Your press release tells editors and reporters

  • What the news is (publicizing NARFE’s presence and services to federal employees, retirees and survivors in your area)
  • What your chapter has to offer and gives them the chance to weigh it against other demands for news space or time (newspaper/ radio/ TV)

Your chapter’s press release should:

  • Be prepared on chapter letterhead
  • Be typed double-spaced
  • Include a headline at top and
  • Have all participants identified, left-to-right in any associated photo

FINALLY:  You may send your chapter’s “After-The-Fact” press release with photo (from the local news media) – to: The Maryland Federation of NARFE Chapters – for publication in the Federation’s newsletter – to: Secretary Pat Farmer on: (buttonspaf@aol.com) – with a “cc Copy” to: President Dan McGrath (mcgrathsop@aol.com).
